Clear PKR's name, Nurul Izzah told

.

KUALA LUMPUR: Non-governmental organisation Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) yesterday called on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar to be proactive in correcting negative public perception about the party.

In a statement, JMM national director Noraini Abdul Khalil Saferi suggested Nurul Izzah coax her mother, PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Shamsidar Taharin, the wife of the party's deputy president, Azmin Ali, to hold a joint press conference to deny the allegation that the latter had had an affair with Nurul Izzah's father, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Nurul Izzah should also make known to the public the true nature of the relationship between her mother and Shamsidar."

Noraini said Wan Azizah and Shamsidar should openly refute the allegation made by Malaysian United Indian Party president  Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan.

"They should also jointly refute Nallakaruppan's statement that a bisexual is not fit to be the country's opposition leader."

Noraini said Nurul Izzah needed to act positively to cleanse PKR's image  as the party was now being touted as a "free sex party" and a "69 family party", especially after the recent controversy following the distribution of a sex video allegedly involving Azmin.

Anwar, who is PKR's de facto leader,  had in March sued  Utusan Malaysia and Nallakaruppan for RM100 million over a report alleging he was bisexual and unfit to be the opposition leader.

Nallakaruppan had  alleged he had witnessed Anwar having sex with men and women throughout their 30 years of friendship.
